All about MathThis year we will be using the Investigations curriculum for mathematics in addition to math workshop. We will need your support to accomplish this. The ideas behind Math Investigations allow students to use hands-on resources to really “investigate” math concepts. Some of those concepts include addition, subtraction multiplication, division, area, perimeter and fractions. Your child will learn different strategies to complete problems, thus developing strong critical thinking and problem solving skills.

All about LiteracyIn literacy this year, we will participate in balanced literacy. This classroom structure will support students in becoming stronger, independent readers as they build their reading stamina through daily reading, word work, vocabulary development, and writing. This will support students in developing strong reading comprehension as they examine a variety of complex, content specific texts.

In science, we will be learning about the scientific method. Students will use this process to help them explore topics such as animals, organisms, earth, water, weather, matter and energy. They will complete hands on experiments, and create projects and products to support their understanding of these topics.
